A distinctive emerging artist of his generation, Daniel has performed throughout New York City and internationally at the Panama Jazz Festival (Panama), Nublu (NYC), Joe’s Pub (NYC), Jordan Hall (Boston, MA), Blues Alley (Washington, DC), the Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit, MI), and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada). Spearheaded by his voices on the bass and guitar, Daniel embraces a staunchly cross-genre and intuitive approach to music that bridges contemporary jazz, improvisation, and popular musical traditions. His creative reach extends to his performances and collaborations with José Soto, Nasheet Waits, Igor Ambrosin, and Gabriel Nieves. While initially starting out on the guitar at the age of nine, Daniel eventually fell in love with the bass and ultimately resolved to pursue both instruments. He holds a B.A. in Music from Bowdoin College and an M.M. in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, where he was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship and an EM Grant Award to study with Cecil McBee, Dave Holland, Frank Carlberg, and Jason Moran. Daniel has been invited to teach and give masterclasses at institutions throughout North America. https://danielrohanmayer.com/listen daily 0.75 2026-08-11 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/37908281-6c34-4d89-b559-2ba070abf82c/Daniel-Mayer-WebsiteLanding.jpg Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Simon Rhys Thomas https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/0ec62e15-6df7-48bb-90a7-375310a9d92a/Daniel+Mayer+and+Igor+Ambrosin.png Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Ben Mizrach https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/61cdc0f6-5e72-41f0-810c-7ebbb8978ff6/20250417+NEC+Jazz+Orchestra+with+Maria+Schneider-65.jpg Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Adam Khoury https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/1feb3597-d1e8-4925-bc79-f0cfd753ecd1/Akram+Joe%27s+Pub.jpg Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Sachyn Mital https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/8f0cb7e3-3d26-43fb-b250-c2925fb55d4f/NMK+Trio.jpg Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Caleb Montague https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61c7fb7072f641006528e92d/b99316bf-98ec-4181-ba89-d25c5faefa85/Daniel-Mayer-FundacionDaniloPerez.jpg Listen - Make it stand out Credit: Fundación Danilo Pérez
