A distinctive emerging artist of his generation, Daniel has performed throughout New York City as well as internationally at the Panama Jazz Festival (Panama), Nublu (NYC), the Public Theater (NYC), Jordan Hall (MA), the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MA), and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada). Spearheaded by his unique voices on the bass and guitar, his original music embraces a staunchly cross-genre approach rooted in contemporary jazz. Daniel’s creative reach extends to his role as a member of the Gabriel Nieves Quartet and in performances and collaborations with artists including José Soto, Nasheet Waits, and Bruno Bruni. While initially starting out on the guitar at the age of nine, Daniel eventually fell in love with the bass and ultimately resolved to pursue both instruments. He holds a B.A. in Music from Bowdoin College and an M.M. in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, where he was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship and Grant Award to study with Cecil McBee, Dave Holland, Frank Carlberg, and Jason Moran.
