About

Daniel Mayer is a bassist and guitarist based in New York City. A distinctive emerging artist of his generation, Daniel has performed internationally at the Panama Jazz Festival, Nublu, Jordan Hall, and the Regattabar, and has been invited to give masterclasses as a visiting artist at institutions such as the Fundación Danilo Pérez. He has performed with José Soto and Maria Amalia’s Bosquejo en Riesgo, Nat Adderley Jr., Nasheet Waits, Bruno Bruni, and Fortuno, and is an avid composer leading a trio that performs original music spearheaded by his voices on the bass and guitar.

While initially starting out on the guitar at the age of nine, Daniel eventually fell in love with the bass and ultimately resolved to pursue both instruments. He completed his B.A. in Music from Bowdoin College and M.M. in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he received the Dean’s Scholarship and a Grant Award to study with Cecil McBee, Frank Carlberg, and Jason Moran.
